Collection consists of engineering and business records of Lipscomb's work in South America. Includes handwritten diaries, 1910-1948, correspondence, 1939-1940, a small number of "Heat Engineering" magazines and machinery catalogs, typescript reports on manufacturing technologies, over 300 4x6" photographs from ca. 1914-1915 of factory sites in South America, blueprints/mechanical drawings of factory improvements, 1937-1940, and a Grace & Co. centennial commemorative paperweight.

Lipscomb graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) in mechanical engineering in 1902. He worked for W.R. Grace & Co. at its Paramonga and Cartavio, Peru, sugar refineries until the 1930s when he became head of Grace's "Small Industrial Engineering Department." His retirement date is unknown.
